The delicious details of Kim Jones's new Dior accessories

There's been focus on the clothes, and there's been focus on the shoes, but we’d be remised if we didn’t also focus on the accessories of the new Dior collection, in particular, the buckles and closing mechanisms on the bags, hats, and belts that have been specially designed by Matthew M Williams of 1017 Alyx 9S. Taking the now quite iconic rollercoaster belts and buckles from Alyx as a functional starting point, they were digitally re-designed from the ground up to achieve both the right form and function. The finished objects see the closing mechanism coming together to spell Christian Dior's initials of CD, more directly on the bags, and superimposed on the buckles themselves on the caps and belt, to create a clean and sleek finish.

Kim Jones's most iconic remake of the collection is the readaptation of the classic saddle bag for males. Executed extremely well, with just the right chunky dimensions and finishing off with the Williams designed clasps, this 2018 saddling bag is looking to become an iconic piece of Dior fashion design history for sure.
