MSCHF's microscopic bag sold for $63,750 But the name of the buyer remains top-secret

UPDATE 29/06/2023: After dominating the headlines during Fashion Week, between the collaboration with Tommy Cash and the one with Kid Cudi, MSCHF continues to make waves. This time thanks to her Microscopic Handbag, which after being announced a few weeks ago, was finally auctioned off during the Just Phriends event organized by Sarah Andelman on JOOPITER, the platform owned by Pharrell. Smaller than a grain of salt, the handbag was auctioned for $63,750, although unfortunately the name of the buyer was not disclosed.

Whereas last winter the creative direction of MSCHF had decided to think big with the Big Red Boots, the boots inspired by those of the Astro Boy character, for this summer they seem to have preferred to dedicate themselves to the study of nanotechnology. The size of a hair - the exact measurements, for fans, are 657 micrometers x 222 x 700 - and acid green, the new Microscopic Handbag is a completely new work for the brand, despite the fact that it too is a shameless and essentially ironic imitation of another brand, as is the etiquette of the MSCHF house. Despite being tiny, the sides of the handbag have been embellished with engravings copying Louis Vuitton's monogram, without the French Maison's permission.

Contrary to the big red rubber boots that made the rounds on the web a few months ago and continue to sell out on the brand's website despite constant restocking, the Microscopic Handbag is not destined for mass production - what a shocker, right? - but to the Just Phriends event of Pharrell's auction house, Joopiter. Amidst real Louis Vuitton, Chanel garments and accessories, work by KAWS, and Richard Millie wristwatches, the Microscopic Bag will thus be an integral part of a project that unites all the creators, designers, and artists who have collaborated with the artist over the years, a collection that will go live online on 19 June and can be seen in person during Paris Fashion Week the following day. In an interview with the New York Times, MSCHF CCO Kevin Wiesner said, «Pharrell loves big hats, so we made him an incredibly small bag.»
