Everything you need to know ComplexCon 2019

The 2019 edition of ComplexCon, the most anticipated annual event in the world of sneakers and streetwear, is upon us. Actually it’s just around the corner as it takes place at the Long Beach Convention Center this weekend. For the occasion, there will be shows, a giant marketplace and a series of panels and talks.

But let's proceed in order and look in more detail at what to expect in the upcoming edition this year.

What

The ComplexCon is a festival born in 2016, in collaboration with the singer and producer Pharrell Williams and Takashi Murakami, a living icon of modern art and fashion. The festival was created to bring the best of pop culture, art, food, style, music and sport under one roof. The program includes numerous talks with important figures from all these worlds to be held during the course of the morning and a series of concerts, in collaboration with Pidgeons & Planes, which will occupy afternoon and evening.

When & Where

The festival will take place on November 2nd and 3rd at the Long Beach Convention Center, with its total space of over 53,000 square meters. An entire floor will be dedicated to the Marketplace, there will be two additional areas for podcasts, talks, VIP area and gift shop, while the Pidgeons & Planes Stage will be hosted in the arena and, on the front, the First We Feast Lagoon will be dedicated to street food.

Talk

The panels that bring together the most important figures of contemporary pop culture will deal with the hottest topics of debate such as social media, emerging musical genres, fashion and sports. A podcast dedicated to the art in the era of social media, with guest Takashi Murakami himself will inaugurate the festival at twelve on Saturday 2nd November. Followed by a panel on Generation Z, a talk on the rise of AfroPop, a debate on the sneaker of the year with Sean Wotherspoon, Lil Yatchy and Joe La Puma, a meeting with Matt Barnes and other basketball champions about the NBA empire. On Sunday, Lil Kim will talk about fashion and the role of women in hip hop, youtuber Sean Evans will lead a debate on how to get success on the platform and much more.

Music

Many guests will be present on the Pidgeons & Planes Stage this year. It will start with Pop Smoke on Saturday afternoon, followed by Earthgang and super-guest Lil Kim. In the evening there will be Kid Cudi on stage. Sunday will start from early afternoon with Ybn Crew and Rico Nasty, then A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and finally Anderson .Paak.

Marketplace

In this year's marketplace there will not only be streetwear but also food and drink, modern art, beauty products, cinema and video games. Pop-up stores will include Billionaire Boys Club, Champion, China Town Market, Kappa, Onitsuka Tiger, Puma, Reebook, Vans and Wacko Maria. This year there will be a series of special events and releases like the Rhude archive sale, the Billionaire Boys Club x Reebook sneaker release, the drop in just 126 pieces of the Sneaker Room x Nike Kyrie 5 "Mom" and, finally, the Atmos x Nike "Pop the Street" collection. Also, there will be The Daniel Patrick x Adidas Basketball capsule, two collabs from Midnight Studios and the Takashi Murakami x Zen ComplexCon gift shop will also be presented.
