Michael de Feo, AKA The Flower Guy, has a love for flowers that extends far beyond attending garden centers during the weekend. Over the past two decades he has been around decorating the public walls of the world with his omnipresent flower-stencil, turning his scribbles in a symbol of peace, with a series of simple brush strokes.
Far from the streets, inside his studio, the flowers are present in his work in more subtle ways. Recently, De Feo has channeled his admiration for the Dutch still lifes of the 17th century, in his distinctive way and on smaller canvases.
Applying little flowers and petals on images taken from fashion campaigns and magazines, he recalls meadows, manes and costumes filled with flowers for his subjects, top models of course.
