Acne Studios publishes a book as a tribute to Magnus Carlsson Longtime friend of the creative director Jonny Johansson

My friend Magnus, the new book published in a limited edition by Acne Studios and conceived by the creative director Jonny Johansson, offers a glimpse into the fashion archive of his long-time friend, a source of inspiration for many. After catching Johansson's attention with his style in the 1990s, Magnus Carlsson curated the atmosphere of Acne Studios' showrooms, as well as the restaurant and library at the Stockholm headquarters, Floragatan 13. His research and creative choices played a crucial role in shaping Johansson's vision and, consequently, in the evolution of Acne Studios as a brand. «Over the years, his vibrant personality, his taste for books, and the references he was able to uncover fueled my inspiration and aided me in my work,» says Johansson about Carlsson. The book provides a comprehensive overview of Carlsson's relationship with Johansson and the brand, showcasing over 200 of his garments as creative collages, including a selection of contemporary and archival pieces from Acne Studios.

The raw photographs of the garments have been captured over an extended period by friends and colleagues. Additionally, the images are accompanied by detailed descriptions of the outfits that reveal a unique mix of iconic names from fashion history. In the book's preface, Italian fashion writer Angelo Flaccavento addresses the sociological impact of fashion, providing further context to the images. Colorful, multifaceted, and bold; Carlsson's personal style is akin to that of Acne Studios. In a sense, he is a muse of the contemporary era, embodying the word in its traditional sense. Explaining the main goal of My Friend Magnus, Johansson states, «I want this book to give more people an idea of the charm that Magnus exudes so naturally in the lives of those who know him personally. This is not a volume meant to gather dust on a shelf; its purpose is to inspire and encourage others to push the boundaries of self-expression beyond trends, time, and gender.»

The book is available 1st November on acnestudios.com, at selected Acne Studios stores, and in Carlsson's favorite bookshops in Stockholm, Paris, Tokyo, London, Berlin and New York.
