Valentino's new Open for a Change project A new sustainable line that has just presented its first two sneakers

Valentino presented today the Open for a Change project that will see two of the brand's iconic sneakers, the Open and the Rockstud Untitled, redesigned in a sustainable and innovative version. The project was born as an internal laboratory of the brand, in which to experiment with new materials and technologies, including for example the bio-based and recycled materials with which the first two sneakers were produced, including, for example, the viscose and polyurethane eco-leather obtained from polyols derived from corn. These alternative materials are present in the upper of both models and part of the side band of the Open sneaker; the laces are entirely made of recycled polyester, while the studs on the upper of the Rockstud Untitled, are composed partly of recycled nylon. Sustainability also extends to packaging: from the 100% recycled cotton case, to the recycled paper of the boxes, coming from responsibly managed forests. The new Valentino Garavani Open for a Change project also has its own logo and a green colorway that will identify its products.

For these two sneakers as for all future products, the supply chain in charge of their production is traceable and entirely European to ensure the highest possible level of craftsmanship. In addition, suppliers of bio-based materials also have the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), an analytical and systematic methodology that quantifies the effect on the environment of a product, throughout its life cycle. The new sneakers were previewed during Paris Fashion Week last October, with a temporary installation in the windows of Rombaut, a store in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, which has always been dedicated to the promotion of sustainable fashion projects.

Valentino Garavani Open for a Change is available in all Valentino boutiques and online on the brand's official website.
