The documentary about Alexander McQueen finally arrives on the big screen Only for a few days we can discover the genius of the King of British fashion

The more a character is complex and gifted, the harder it is to tell his story in an honest and at the same time engaging way, without risking being dazzled by his greatness. Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui will try it with a documentary about Alexander McQueen coming these days, from 10 to 13 March in Italian cinemas. Genius, provocateur, iconoclastic stylist, fragile soul. A single adjective is not enough to describe the designer who, with his unique imagination in which romance, perversion, macabre and grotesque coexisted, has more marked fashion and style in recent years. Unpublished and backstage films, alternated with interviews with family members, friends and close collaborators, outline the contours of the history of the English creative: from childhood in East London, where he grew up last of six children to world success.

In the midst of a mosaic of art, clothes, provocation and life, there is love for fashion; the meeting with Isabella Blow, the first to recognize the potential and to spread her talent; the apprenticeship at the prestigious tailoring school of Savile Row; the beginnings of Romeo Gigli; the debut at the age of 27 by Givenchy and, above all, his collections. Just a selection of his most personal and iconic shows punctuates the rhythm of Alexander McQueen: the genius of fashion, dividing the project into five chapters: Jack the Ripper Stalks His Victims in 1992; the controversial Highland Rape; Search for the Golden Fleece, the first collection designed for Givenchy; the exploration of the beauty and madness of Voss; Plato's Atlantis, the final show made before man took his own life. The Bonhôte and Ettedgui project is an unmissable opportunity to discover or delve into the figure of Lee Alexander McQueen, the "Rebel King of British fashion".
