A vederlo, non sembra un dj/producer. Statuario, affascinante, attraente, notevole e vistoso; un modello devoto alla deep house. James Pople non sbanda, ha sempre lavorato per se stesso e per mostrare all’esterno il suo stile folle, sfilando su una passerella o magari masturbando vinili dietro ad una consolle.
La label londinese Lower East, lo scova tra gli ambienti underground della capitale e senza perdere troppo tempo gli fa fare il salto di qualità. Il primo lavoro frimato James Pople è ‘Keep It Up’, che in meno di due mesi gli fa guadagnare la stima e il rispetto da parte di alcuni dei pilastri portanti della deep moderna (Laura Jones, Noir, Amine Edge, MANIK, per citarne alcuni).
Si è sempre detto che il tempo è galantuomo, ma ciò non vale per James, che in pochissimo tempo riesce a riempire locali simbolo del clubbing mondiale come il Fabric, il Ministry of Sound e il Cocoon Club di Francoforte.
Le sue ultime uscite ‘I Never Knew’ su Electronique e ‘Who’s That Girl EP’ su Feast Records hanno il sostegno da parte di Groove Armada, Wolf + Lamb, Huxley e Louie Fresco, che hanno elogiato stile, sonorità e capacità di relazionarsi con i clubbers.
James Pople arriva come un uragano nel panorama deep, del resto l’ambizione non è un vizio da gente di poco conto.
