UNIQLO Reimagines the Winter Wardrobe with Essential Pieces Designed for Layering

The HEATTECH collection, UNIQLO's thermal clothing designed as the foundation of every winter outfit, has changed the lives of cold-sensitive people around the world. The HEATTECH Extra Warm cashmere-blend thermal tops are designed to be thin while providing comfort and warmth, whether worn on their own or as a base layer for winter-proof layering. With the latest collection, the Japanese brand set out to redefine the role of this technology and transform it into an essential everyday piece, capable of carrying you through each day from early autumn all the way to spring. The goal is to prove that a lightweight, slim, and extraordinarily warm garment can become the cornerstone of an autumn wardrobe — practical, but above all beautiful for any occasion.

The new Extra Warm cashmere version was born from the desire to offer customers a material that retains the thermal performance defining HEATTECH technology, while adding cashmere fibres for an even softer fabric. Thanks to its crimped structure, cashmere increases the volume of trapped air and gives the fabric additional softness to the touch. The measured result is an insulating power approximately one and a half times greater than classic jersey, while remaining as lightweight and slim as ordinary underwear.

Creating this collection required four years of research, more than two hundred prototypes, and a production process that treats cashmere with the care befitting a precious fibre: from the selection of raw wool to balanced spinning, from yarn stabilisation to slow-speed knitting, through to low-stress dyeing. In short, these are no longer base layers — they are garments. This combination of performance and aesthetics opens up new styling possibilities. Every piece in the collection — available in crew neck, scoop neck, and turtleneck styles — is ready to become a centrepiece of autumn or transitional-season outfits. And thanks to the ultra-stretch fabric that holds its shape, this is also a perfect line to travel with, owing to its practicality.

A style perfect for every season

For the women's collection, significant work was done on the colour front, personally overseen by Uniqlo's Creative Director, Clare Waight Keller. The collection now offers a wide range of shades designed to fit seamlessly into any seasonal look: from classic black to optical white, through warm greys, deep beiges, burgundy, forest greens, and midnight blue, all the way to more unexpected tones that allow for sophisticated colour combinations.

Thanks to this vivid palette, a technical garment is transformed into a style statement, capable of peeking out beneath an open shirt, contrasting with an oversized coat, or becoming the focal point of a monochrome total look.

And that is precisely why the new HEATTECH Extra Warm cashmere-blend collection steps out of the "cold-weather clothing" category and takes its rightful place among the season's must-haves. From mild autumn days to the coldest spells, it simply becomes something to own, to wear, and to be seen in.
