C.P. Company presents “People Make The Clothes, Clothes Make The People" in Copenhagen An exhibition exploring fifty years of the Italian brand's archive
C.P. Company lands in Copenhagen with People Make The Clothes, Clothes Make The People, an exhibition at Other Circle that traces over fifty years of research, experimentation and innovation in contemporary sportswear. In a journey through the creative process that has made C.P. Company one of the most influential names in menswear, the exhibition celebrates the ideas and the people behind every C.P. Company creation, each one a cultural symbol that over 50 years has dressed the most diverse communities — from football to motorsport and music — helping to define their identity.
The exhibition unfolds across two rooms. The first tells the story of the brand's evolution through a selection of archive pieces — from Massimo Osti's early graphic experiments in the 1970s to the Goggle Jacket and Explorer Jacket, through to innovations in treatments and dyeing techniques. Through its garments, the first room also traces the brand's various creative directions, from Moreno Ferrari to Alessandro Pungetti, from Paul Harvey to Leonardo Fasolo.
The second room is dedicated to the technique that more than any other has defined C.P. Company's DNA: garment dyeing. At the centre of the space, a cylindrical installation presents a single jacket rendered in a chromatic progression that reveals the full complexity and allure of garment dyeing, transforming a production process into a spectacle.
One of the most compelling aspects of the exhibition lies in the way the brand's history is told. The garments are housed in the iconic transparent display cases that have characterised C.P. Company's exhibition language for decades — a system developed by Massimo Osti in 1987 for the show marking the brand's first fifteen years, held in Berlin, and conceived to present the jackets as genuine research documents.
Over time, this display method has evolved, becoming one of the most recognisable elements of C.P. Company's identity. Having been revisited for the fiftieth anniversary exhibition in 2021, it returns today at Copenhagen Fashion Week as an integral part of the narrative, transforming the archive into an ever-evolving laboratory.
