Shane Gabier and Chris Peters sono le menti dietro al brand Creatures of the Wind. Quello che stanno vivendo è un periodo molto fortunato: dalla School of the Art Institute di Chicago alla vittoria del CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund e alle passerelle newyorkesi.
Il brand di Chicago presenta una collezione invernale ispirata a 'The secret Commonwealth', libro scritto nel ‘600 da Robert Kirk, ministro presbiteriano scozzese, sul folklore e sui misteri di elfi, fauni e fate.
Se l’idea iniziale rimanda ad un mondo surreale, soprannaturale e magico, a livello pratico questa si traduce in una linea fantasiosa, multistrato, dagli inusuali abbinamenti di forme, colori e tessuti. E’ un universo in cui convivono una camicia in flanella con uno scialle ricamato a mano, maglioni mohair a righe con una preziosa gonna in broccato francese, una semplice camicia bianca botton down con gonne in pvc dorato.
Creatures of the Wind regala alla stagione fredda il sapore della fanciullezza, del sogno, della spontaneità nel vestirsi e nel mixare fra loro capi spesso antitetici.
Shane Gabier and Chris Peters are the designers behind Creatures of the Wind. The one they are living is a very lucky period, that quickly, bring them from School of the Art Institute of Chicago to the victory of del CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and to the New York runways. The brand from Chicago presents a winter collection inspired by The secret Commonwealth, book written in ‘600 by Robert Kirk, Scottish Episcopalian minister, about folklore and elves, fauns and fairies. If the initial idea refers to a surreal, supernatural, magic world, on a practical level it moves in a fantastic, multilayer, line, with unusual combination of shapes, colors and fabrics. It’s a universe where a flannel shirt lives together with a handmade shawl, a stripes mohair sweater with a precious skirt made with French brocade, a simple white button down shirt with golden skirts. Creatures of the Wind gives to the cold season the taste of childhood, of dream, of naturalness of dressing and mixing between them items often antithetic.
