Singing silky songs with Huishan

Prendi la Cina – sterminato continente asiatico dalla fama controversa, da tempo diventato il nome che scorre piacevolmente sulla bocca di tutti. Aggiungi un po’ di altri continenti a piccole ma decise dosi (Nuova Zelanda, Francia) e mescola il tutto con una frizzante Londra d’annata. Ecco la ricetta di successo di Huishan Zhang, fashion designer attualmente ben piantato nella terra di Sua Maestà, ma di origini appunto orientali. A soli 17 anni era già a zonzo in giro per il mondo, e da allora ha macinato chilometri ed esperienze rimasticando il tutto per dare vita a un progetto creativo recentemente passato sotto la lente di molti esperti del settore.

Le collezioni a suo nome si contano appena sulla punta delle dita di una mano, ma gli abiti sono di quelli da amore a prima vista.

Inseguendo il sottile filo dell’ispirazione, Huishan plasma sulle superfici trasparenze e stampe quasi impercettibili. Difficilmente sceglie colori ad alto impatto, preferendo optare per sperimentazioni che coinvolgono la forma e i volumi. E lascia sempre eccessi ed eccentricità fuori dalla porta. È un romanticismo sospirato, il suo, e ci racconta eroine di carta che spuntano tra le pagine di una fiaba contenuta in un libro pop-up.

La primavera/estate 2012 vede il bianco grande protagonista, spezzato dall’azzurro confetto, il pesca, il nero. Sete e chiffon danzano con dettagli in paillettes argentate, che decorano educatamente abitini e bluse leggere.

Lusso bon-ton da consumare in compagnia di Frank Sinatra e cupcakes alla fragola. 

Take China – huge Asian continent with a controversial reputation, but currently the name on everybody’s lips. Add a few other continents’ flavour (New Zealand, France) and mix it all with a fizzy dose of vintage London. You’ll get the recipe for Huishan Zhang’s success, a fashion designer currently UK based but with Eastern roots.

At his 17 he was already strolling down foreign lands’ streets, and since then he’s been eating up a lot of mileages and experiences, reworking the whole thing to give birth to a creative project which recently crossed the radar of a bunch of wise people from the industry. His namesake collections can be counted on one single hand’s fingers, but his clothes are love at first sight stuff.

Following the tiny thread of inspiration, Huishan moulds trasparencies and almost undetectable prints onto the surfaces he works with. He hardly picks up bold colours, rather opting for plays on shapes and volumes. Strictly leaving eccesses and eccentricities outside the door. It’s a whispered romanticism that tells us about paper heroines coming out from the fairytale contained in a pop-up book.

Spring/Summer 2012 sees a superstar white, interrupted by baby blue, peach, black. Silk and chiffon danc with silver paillettes details, decorating dresses and impalpable blouses.
