A movie on Roberto Baggio, to soon debut on Netflix 'Il divin codino' should be out in the next months and will cover in detail the 22 seasons of the former footballer's reign

***Update of 03/03/2021*** Netflix has released the official teaser trailer and the release date of the film of the film on Baggio: online on May 26th.

Netflix's sports offer is about to increase again in 2021, thanks to the co-production agreement signed in 2019 with Mediaset, some new movies will be available on the online streaming platform, including almost one related to the world of football. The first title announced in Rome within the National Gallery of Modern Art is 'Il divin codino', a biopic that traces the story of Roberto Baggio produced by Fabula Pictures, directed by the young Apulian Letizia Lamartire (former director of 'Saremo giovani e bellissimi') and written by Ludovica Rampoldi and Stefano Sardo. The former Ballon d'Or awardee will be personified by Andrea Arcangeli, a promising Abruzzese actor already seen in both tv and cinema (for example in Simone Spada's 'Domani è un altro giorno'). The movie was inspired by the Raffaele Nappi's book, 'Roberto Baggio. Divin Codino'.

The film should be ready in 2021, "but we are in no hurry - said the CEO and founder of Netflix, Reed Hastings - the important thing is that it come out well". After producing an introspective docu-series on recent seasons such as 'First Team: Juventus' and 'Sunderland 'Till I Die', the new movies are mainly inspired by different kind of emotions emanating from football, but also about love and the southern Italy: emotions like those given by Baggio during his 22-year career, rich of great triumphs but also injuries, difficult relationships with managers and bitter disappointments.

The film about Baggio follows other Netflix productions related to football, such as Juventus First Team and Ultras by Francesco Lettieri, the debut on the big screen for the director of Liberato's shorts. By virtue of the experimental and complementary partnership recently signed, the films will air on Netflix and after twelve months exclusively free on the Mediaset networks, and precisely on Canale 5.
