We were in Paris for the launch of the Vans x A Tribe Called Quest capsule collection, which sees the iconic brand, the hip-hop collective and the Sony Music merchandising company, The Thread Shop, combined in a perfect mix of style, art, music and authenticity. Protagonists of the collection are 5 of the most iconic Vans silhouettes of all time - plus an already classic new entry-, which celebrate the career of the A Tribe Called Quest using their album artwork covers and song lyrics.

The Sk8-Hi shows the phrases of the famous song Bonita Applebaum on the sneaker laces, on the external panels and also in the inner lining. The Slip-On highlights the cover of the 2016 album We Got It From Here ... Thank You 4 Your Service, while the Era shows on the upper a graphic that takes all the covers of the albums from 1990 to 2016. Based on the art work of the album The Anthology (1999), the Old Skool uses the same zebra pattern with bright colors on a black background. The Authentic instead commemorates the life of the member of the group Phife Dawg who passed away in 2015, and also the new Vans  silhouette - the UltraRange - celebrates the group presenting a black upper with contrasting red Sidestripe.

The launch of the collection in Europe was anticipated by a special event that took place in Paris on April 5 and 6, in which the 6 protagonists were unveiled. The location in the heart of the French capital, paid tribute to the group, offering live music, special performances and art installations.
