Wes Anderson is currently hard at work on his next film, the twelfth in his career, titled "The Phoenician Scheme." This feature film will mark a first collaboration with the talented Michael Cera, and will reunite Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, and Benicio del Toro. Roman Coppola, Anderson's faithful collaborator, is credited as co-writer, a role he has previously held on "The Darjeeling Limited" (2007) and "Moonrise Kingdom" (2012). Filming is set to begin in spring 2024, with a theatrical release expected in 2025. Could this coincide with the first French exhibition dedicated to the director? Perhaps.

Indeed, the French Cinematheque will host from March 19 to July 27, 2025, an unprecedented retrospective dedicated to Wes Anderson, the most French of Texan filmmakers. The director had previously staged an exhibition in Milan earlier in the year at the Prada Foundation on his latest film "Asteroid City," providing an immersive artistic experience at the heart of Wes Anderson's unique cinematic universe. This Parisian exhibition, for its part, will offer an opportunity to rediscover his filmography, from his beginnings in the 90s to his award-winning short film, "The Marvelous Story of Henry Sugar", winner of the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film, available on Netflix. "I visited the Cinematheque for the first time 25 years ago when it was located at the Trocadéro, but I had already explored it in my imagination through the letters of François Truffaut," Anderson said in a statement. "It is therefore a particular pleasure for me to participate in this exhibition, no matter what we choose to present." These remarks hint at the scale of the retrospective project, which promises to include costumes, accessories, and documents revealing the secrets of his films' production. A celebration of the unique universe of Wes Anderson and his enduring influence on contemporary cinema.
