Blackpink's 5 best fashion moments Ten years of «Blackpink in your area»

On August 8, 2016, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa were introduced to the world for the very first time as Blackpink. Since then, they have broken record after record: they were the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella and the first K-pop group to headline it, they claimed the number one spot on the Billboard 200 with the album Born Pink, they achieved the highest-grossing tour in history for a girl group, and with over 95 million subscribers, they remain to this day the most-followed musical artists on YouTube. Their success has helped transform K-pop into a global phenomenon and has been one of the main driving forces behind the relationship between K-pop and fashion, paving the way for a new generation of idols who have become the faces of major fashion house campaigns and front rows at fashion weeks. To celebrate the group's tenth anniversary, we have looked back at five of Blackpink's greatest fashion moments.
Their Inkigayo debut with Boombayah (2016)
Following the release of Square One, their debut EP, on all streaming platforms, Blackpink's promotional activities kicked off with one of the most unforgettable stages in K-pop history. On the Inkigayo stage (one of Korea's most popular music shows), Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa performed Boombayah, immediately showcasing their visual and stylistic identity. The concept already played on the duality embedded in the group's name: the black side came through in studs, leather, chains, and a grunge aesthetic, while the pink side took shape in feminine silhouettes — tartan skater skirts, crop tops, and knee-high socks. Reflecting on those looks in a 2024 interview with Harper's Bazaar, Jennie admitted she would no longer wear an outfit like that today, but still considers it one of the most iconic moments in Blackpink's history: "back then, all of us loved that style."
Their first performance at Coachella (2019)

When Blackpink took the Sahara Stage at Coachella in 2019, no female K-pop group had ever performed at the California festival before. "We were surprised they even invited us — we had never seen anything like it in history," Rosé told Vogue in 2024. For the occasion, Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa set aside the Korean idol aesthetic in favor of an approach far more in keeping with festival fashion: ensembles encrusted with crystals, leather, fringe, corsets, and boots, with custom looks designed to complement their movements on stage. That performance marked a turning point not only for BLACKPINK, but for K-pop as a whole. In 2023, the group returned to the Indio desert as headliners, wearing a series of custom Mugler looks.
The How You Like That music video (2020)
When How You Like That was released, BLACKPINK had not put out music together in over a year. The single, conceived as a pre-release for their first album — The Album — was therefore tasked with ushering in a new chapter for the group. Compared to their earlier work, Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa had largely moved away from the streetwear aesthetic that had defined their beginnings, shifting toward a more mature image. The look everyone remembers, however, is the one that appears in the final seconds of the music video. For the first time, the four artists wore a contemporary take on the hanbok, the traditional Korean garment, reinterpreted by the brands Danha and Leesle. Far removed from ceremonial versions, these hanboks blended traditional embroidery, corsets, modern fabrics, and contemporary proportions. Within days, online searches skyrocketed and international orders for both brands exploded.
The investiture at Buckingham Palace (2023)
In November 2023, Blackpink were invited to Buckingham Palace for the state visit of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, where King Charles III bestowed upon Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa the honorary title of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of their contribution to climate change awareness as ambassadors for COP26. "It was a tremendous honor for us to receive the MBE," Lisa recalled to British Vogue. For the occasion, the four set aside their superstar outfits in favor of a decidedly more formal wardrobe: Jisoo chose Dior, Rosé wore Saint Laurent, and Jennie opted for Chanel — all their official ambassadorships — while Lisa chose to pay tribute to her roots by wearing a tweed cape dress by Thai designer Asava.
The Met Gala as solo artists (2026)

Following the release of the EP Deadline and the conclusion of the Deadline World Tour, Blackpink reunited at the 2026 Met Gala. For the first time, all four had been invited individually — a milestone that speaks to the direction the group has taken in recent years. For the occasion, Jennie wore a Chanel gown by Matthieu Blazy embroidered with over 15,000 metallic sequin leaves, Jisoo made her Met Gala debut in a custom Dior by Jonathan Anderson, Rosé stayed true to Saint Laurent with a sleek, elongated silhouette, while Lisa surprised everyone by choosing the sculptural couture of Robert Wun. For one evening, they were not simply Blackpink, but four established solo artists — proof of how they have each built distinct fashion identities without ever losing their identity as a group. After all, when Jisoo was asked what was going through her mind just before ascending the Met steps, her answer was: "I just want to meet my members — we're all here, and it's really exciting."
