All the news introduced yesterday by Nike Other than the new Mercurial, the Swoosh also unveiled a new football, shin guards and goalkeeper gloves

During the event held last night in London, where the new Mercurial Vapor and Superfly 360 were presented and where we had the chance for a first glance at the Nike x Off-White collabo, the Swoosh also presented a series of very interesting collections and productions. Other than England and Nigeria national teams’ shirts, Nike also presented a revolutionary pair of goalkeeper gloves, the Nike Mercurial Touch Elite, the new Nike Merlin ACC ball, and the Mercurial Flylite SuperLock shin guards.

Let’s start with Nike’s new gloves, that aims to completely revolutionize an item that has been largely ignored for the past twenty years but that is now reinvented. Nike used the experience in other sectors - like surf, baseball, and golf - to design the new goalkeeper gloves from zero, with a 66% reduction of the components, for a product that is 33% lighter and 46% thinner. Every glove is realized with a unique plug. The ACC technology on the high grip span guarantees a perfect touch with every weather condition. The Nike Mercurial Touch Elite gloves will be available in May at nike.com.

Let’s move to the Nike Merlin, the new Nike ball that will be used in Premier League, LaLiga, and Serie A during the 2018/19 season. The new product by the Swoosh is the first to feature the ACC technology, that will allow perfect touch and control with every weather condition. Nike reduced the structure panel from 12 to 4, increasing the striking zone. The latex air chamber is wrapped with patented fabrics to improve the air pressure and keep the shape of the ball. The secondary and tertiary colors help the players to identify rotation, speed, and trajectory quicker.

Finally, the new Nike Mercurial Flylite SuperLock shin guards, that will come in Fall 2018, and that want to solve one of the problems that have always afflicted the footballers: the shin guards themselves. The new shin guards feature small spikes on top of the face of the guard that safely pierce the sock, locking it into place. The entire surface area of the guard is covered with these safe, lightweight spikes for an aggressive look and precision placement, no strap or sleeve needed.
