Chanel x Monster Headphones

Chanel x Monster Headphones Art Work by Tom Butler

The DJ and producer Swizz Beatz and Karl Lagerfeld immortalized with Chanel headphones, of course quilted, around the neck.

Just this picture to launch a series of rumors about a collaboration between the French fashion house and Monster, cult brand for sound purists. The confirmation comes during the Chanel show, when in a designer supermarket, including tweed, lurex, pearls, cans, water bottles and hundreds of other products with the double C, peep those same headphones, bluetooth, quilted and total black.

Now, a few months later, AnOther magazine decided to celebrate this item, pinnacle of luxury, choosing Tom Butler to reinterpret it. The English artist puts the headphones inside the cabinet cards of the nineteenth century, unearthed in the flea markets and in book or antique stores in Portland, the city where he now lives.

Butler is fascinated by the texture, design and the little details that make special this last creation by Kaiser Karl. Victorian Portraiture and 2000s luxury  give rise to a hybrid defined as a cross between Francis Bacon and Donnie Darko, an ancient creature, haughty, mysterious and glamorous, pure elegance.
