The silent unveiling of Rabanne in its FW25 collection Mona Tougaard is the face of a collection that invites us to refocus our attention on our inner strength
For its FW25 collection, Rabanne, still under the guidance of Julien Dossena, has once again decided to do things on a grand scale, and always with poetry. Indeed, it is an introspective and sensory journey that the French Maison offers us, supported by a collection that explores the precise moment when structure unravels, when protections fade away to reveal an inner strength. This season’s wardrobe is in fact a permanent play of contrasts: preciousness and protection engage in a continuous dialogue, creating a subtle balance. Timeless wools and coated cottons, symbols of a disciplined structure, open up to let unexpected sparks escape. The faux fur, whether elegantly enveloping on coats or unleashed in long fringes on skirts, perfectly embodies this duality.
An ambivalence that manifests itself in the smallest details: from silver surfaces beginning to flake to strategic slits revealing deconstructed panels, passing through a profusion of tiny sequins that break with pure lines. One of the most surprising looks is a suit with pure lines set ablaze by a print of an explosion of colorful pills, a metaphor for the excess and the complexity hidden behind a controlled façade. The entire collection explores the notion of territory between inside and outside, defense and vulnerability. Beneath belted plastic protective shells, we discover inlays of knits and lace. Shimmering and ruffled sheaths flirt with leather dresses, while transparent dresses hint at a shimmering second skin. Men also adopt these chromatic and material expressions, mixing leather and faux fur for a silhouette both strong and complex.
The color palette, composed of apricot, glass green, burgundy, deep blue and lilac, finds a balance between warm and cool, illustrating this duality. To anchor these ethereal silhouettes, the Maison offers military boots laced to the top, reinforcing the idea of protection, while Mary Janes worn with sparkling socks bring a touch of grunge and an allusion to the past. The collection ends on a poetic note: an old-fashioned key worn as a pendant. This universal symbol of security and secrecy reminds us that strength lies not in what we show, but in what we keep precious. It is an invitation to let go at the right moment, to unlock something that, for now, remains unknown. In a constant dialogue between what we keep for ourselves and what we choose to reveal, for an elegance both grounded and luminous, the FW25 collection of Maison Rabanne is a true invitation to pay more attention to our inner energy. As for us, we fully intend to listen to it all winter.
