The second drop of the Off-White™ x Nike “Athlete in Progress” collection A womenswear apparel collection inspired by the running world

Virgil Abloh keeps drawing inspiration from the sports world and in particular to the world of running and track-and-field, especially for the second drop of his collaboration with Nike that will hit stores on November 14th. After the release of Zoom Terra Kiger 5 this June, which kicked off this new partnership dedicated to running and womenswear entitled "Athlete in Progress", we will see a second drop that includes the new Off-White sneaker™ x Nike, the Vapor Street, in three colourways along with an activewear capsule collection

This connection between Abloh and the world of women's running had already manifested itself with the participation of eight female athletes on the SS19 show of Off-White™, mixed between supermodels such as Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner. They were the English Dina Asher-Smith (now the main face of the campaign), English Gardner and Katarina Johnson-Thompson, the French Rénelle Lamote and then Cecilia Yeung from Hong Kong, the Belgian Nafissatou Thiam, the Colombian Caterine Ibargaen and the American Vashti Cunningham, whose looks were inspired by their respective disciplines.

The collection revitalizes Nike archival pieces and includes technical clothing, post-run garments and Vapor Street. The colour palette is dominated by yellow, blue and black with tye-dye, camo and denim elements. Highlights of the capsule are the top and the yellow sports leggings, the backpack-vest that is laced like a harness and the racing jacket with square pockets on the arm and back.

The Off-White™ x Nike Vapor Street, on the other hand, takes up the model of the classic racing sneaker but alters the silhouette from the nailed sole, a reference to the typical athletics footwear, up to the upper to which a translucent layer is added. The unconventional laces, the "invasive" branding typical of Off-White™ and the coloured strings (in orange, lime green and black) provide a contrasting element that makes these sneakers a fairly complex product in its various textures and components.

The Off-White™ x Nike "Athlete in Progress" collection along with the Vapor Street sneakers will be released at select retailers and on Nike.com on November 14. On November 9th, instead, during the event NIKE "TRACK & FIELD" C/O VIRGIL ABLOH™ ©2019 12 teams will compete in a series of athletic and obstacle challenges.
