Balenciaga's SOCCER SERIES collection has arrived Confirms Demna's fascination with football aesthetics

Since Demna took over the Parisian fashion house, Balenciaga's aesthetic has always been heavily influenced by the world of football. So it's no surprise that the new FOOTBALL SERIES 2024 collection, which includes woollen scarves, brimmed hats, short and long-sleeved jerseys, tracksuits, tracksuit bottoms, poplin jackets, zip-up hoodies and socks, features logo piping in the style of football team jerseys. So the Balenciaga football shirts, already seen at a few fashion shows and inspired by the Nike Total90 template, are back after being seen at the Spring 23 show in New York and instead resemble the jersey adidas designed for Liverpool in the 2008/09 season. So if we thought the Blokecore trend would die down in 2024, Balenciaga proves us wrong.

Instead of the player's name, it's the name of the city or business district where it's to be sold: Aoyama, Barcelona, Beverly Hills, Dubai, Ipanema, Mayfair, Miami, Milan, Paris, Seoul, Shanghai, Soho and Tokyo. Some pieces also feature the number ten, an iconic number for football and a nod to Balenciaga's historic address in Paris, 10 Avenue George V. The collection is now available on the brand's website and in shops.
