UEFA has announced which countries will host the 2032 European Championship. It thus rewards the joint candidature of Italy and Turkey, which will share the stadiums that will host the matches of the continental competition. The two federations have until October 2026 to announce the five stadiums selected from the list of ten proposed during the bidding phase. As this will be the fifth international football event to be held in our country, the last since the World Cup of Italy90, investment in renovating and adapting our sports facilities to the latest standards will be crucial. So far, the FIGC has put forward the following ten proposals: the Juventus Stadium in Turin, the San Siro in Milan, the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, the Maradona in Naples, the San Nicola in Bari, the Luigi Ferraris in Genoa, the Artemio Franchi in Florence, the Bentegodi in Verona, the Sant'Elia in Cagliari and the Renato Dall'Ara in Bologna.

Four of them are in need of renovation, while three need to be built from scratch. Then there are the San Siro question marks, whose possible demolition has been discussed for years, and the Olimpico in Rome, soon to be joined by a stadium in Pietralata, owned by AS Roma. For decades, Italy has suffered from a chronic lack of modern and internationally competitive sports facilities. The last major construction sites were just opened for the 1990 World Cup. Could Euro2032 therefore give a boost to the projects of the various Serie A clubs by speeding up the necessary modernisation of Italian stadiums?
