The record holding auction for a vintage Yankees' jersey Worn in the 1920s by Babe Ruth, the greatest player in MLB history

Hunt Auctions, one of the main sports memorabilia auction houses, has announced that on June 15th, at the Yankees Stadium in New York, a late 20s shirt worn by George Herman "Babe" Ruth, the greatest player in the history of American baseball, will be put up for sale. There are only 6 examples of shirts worn by Babe Ruth, including the one exhibit at the Cooperstown Hall of Fame. The last one was sold for 4 million dollars, which has been the highest priced sports memorabilia ever sold.

The sweater, in gray flannel with an embroidered, is produced by Spalding and has a significant peculiarity. The real reason that makes the uniform unique and that will make the price skyrocket is in fact that the first of all the words Yankees, has remained intact until now, as iconic as the complete pinstripe of the New York team.

Along with the uniform, autographed balls and vintage shoes will be auctioned by Ruth's family, part of the proceeds will go to charity. The former Boston Red Sox and Yankees player - the two most representative MLB franchises - played a key role in American culture, reviving the fortunes of the Great Game and American sport in general at the time of the great depression. A self-made man, who in addition to being considered the strongest player of all time, deeply embodies American ideals.
