adidas could save up to $80M in case of Derrick Rose retirement The former NBA MVP is considering to stop his career due to too many injuries

In the last days, the NBA has been shaken by another news regarding Derrick Rose. The umpteenth injury suffered by the former MVP, a soft but yet annoying ankle issue that forced him to play just seven games since the start of the season, seems to have discouraged for good the Chicago native, that since his first ACL injury back in 2012 is been living a true calvary, spending more time between surgeries and rehabs than on the hardwood. It looks like Rose is even considering an early retirement - at just 29 - tired of the continuous injuries that are mining his NBA career.

And if on a personal side Rose is gathering nothing but nice words and encouragements from his teammates and opponent - like LeBron’s, that he’s waiting for him no matter what - on an economical side his retirement would have substantial effects. According to a report from ESPN, in fact, adidas could save up to $80M in case of a Rose retirement, not being forced to pay him the other seven years of his agreement with the German brand. A truthful split of the NBA, that gives both the hugeness of the deals in the league and the tendency of making a business matter out of everything. Even out of something that, for us, would be a heartbreak.
