HBO Max, the streaming service owned by Warner Bros., has ordered the production of the first season of The Hype, a reality show set in the world of streetwear and hype culture. The program will be produced by Offset, who will also star as a judge, along with Beth Birkett, creative director and founder of Bephies Beauty Supply, and Marni Senofonte, the costume designer who already worked with Beyoncé and Lauryn Hill. Speedy Morman of Complex Media will host the eight episodes of the show.

In The Hype, ten streetwear professionals will compete in a series of challenges that will see them planning a fashion business in an attempt to intercept and exploit the latest market trends. The project follows a long series of reality shows dedicated to the world of fashion, from Project Runway to the recent Making the Cut produced by Prime Video. In the past, streetwear hasn't been fully portrayed and enhanced in its transposition on the small screen, as in the case of the Netflix series Sneakerheads, well below expectations.

At the moment there isn't a release date for the series yet, keep following nss magazine for all the updates on The Hype.
