At the age of 47, Le Duc De Boulogne isn't ready to retire yet

« I started a house label, we're building an X-Men team with French and American talent. I don't just like rap, I love all music, especially house and electro. » With this statement in an interview, Booba surprised everyone at the Golden Coast festival in Dijon, an event dedicated to rap and hip-hop culture. Known for launching major French rap artists like Damso, Shay, and SDM, the “Duc de Boulogne” proves he’s not done expanding his horizons. With Sub Life, he's diving into the electro world, a universe he has long admired. This label, conceived as a bridge between France and the United States, will gather talents from the house and electro scene. Speaking about this project, Booba reveals a more eclectic side of himself, passionate about music as a whole, far from being limited to rap. This move might be a turning point in his career as a producer, after his successes with 92i, 7 Corp, and more recently Piraterie Music.

In addition to his ambition on the electro scene, he hinted at a new date at the Parc des Princes in response to a video of his Stade France concert last year, saying « Le Parc ça s'tente! » («Le Parc, it's worth a try»), a nod to his roots in Boulogne-Billancourt. At 47 years old, he continues to surprise, as evidenced by the success of his latest track « Dolce Camara », which even Diplo validated and remixed at Amnesia in Cap d’Agde during a party, leaving the rapper emotional. The emergence of a label like Sub Life shows that Booba is not afraid to explore new territory, just as other rap figures have done before him. Think of the British scene, for example, with Skepta and his Ibiza house sets, or Vladimir Cauchemar in France. So, who and what can we expect? That’s the question we’re asking about the often controversial figure, whose goal is to make his debut in the electronic music scene.
