Dynamo The Good Company and Baracuta Reinterpret the Iconic G9 Jacket When the Harrington Meets Italian Textile Research

The new project linking Dynamo The Good Company and the historic British brand Baracuta, titled G9DY, aims to be something different from a classic collaboration. At its heart is a reinterpretation of the G9, the iconic Harrington jacket, created by Dynamo The Good Company for Baracuta using a technical material developed in-house, called Eclettica. The result is a Limited Edition of just 250 pieces, in which British heritage meets Italian manufacturing culture, and the garment also becomes a vehicle for a social cause.

Born in the late 1930s to protect golfers playing beneath the rainy skies of Manchester, the G9 Jacket has remained virtually unchanged through all the decades since, stepping off the greens to enter the collective imagination across generations and subcultures, eventually becoming one of the most recognisable images of British style. Its design is instantly recognisable, and for that very reason any intervention upon it demands respect. With G9DY, the choice was deliberate: Baracuta's silhouette and codes remain intact, while what changes is the fabric.

This is where Eclettica comes in — a technical material by Dynamo, conceived to bring together weather protection, comfort and freedom of movement. Its structure is made up of multiple layers. On the outside sits a bi-stretch fabric that moves with the body; just beneath it, a Windtex WR WX C6 microporous membrane allows the skin to breathe while simultaneously acting as a barrier against wind and rain. On the inner side, an exceptionally soft fleece completes the laminate, adding warmth and a gentle sensation against the skin.

Behind this solution lies the materials research that Dynamo The Good Company carries out in dialogue with the excellence of the Italian textile supply chain. It is in the fabric, then, that the two identities truly meet: the G9 retains its aesthetic recognisability, while Eclettica updates its performance and feel. British heritage and Italian innovative capability coexist within the same garment, with neither overshadowing the other.

The reason Baracuta chose Dynamo The Good Company as its partner is precisely its innovative approach to fabrics and Made in Italy. The first garments Dynamo developed were created as uniforms for the staff and volunteers of Dynamo Camp, where living each day amid nature and movement calls for clothing that is robust, comfortable and versatile. That same approach to product development then accompanied the Oasi Dynamo universe, helping to define a language capable of bridging the outdoors and everyday life, technical research and simplicity.

From this hands-on experience, an Italian project has grown step by step — one that brings together product, innovation and social purpose. Dynamo The Good Company is wholly owned by Fondazione Dynamo Camp ETS and directs its profits to the Foundation, in support of its projects. The social dimension, therefore, is not a superficial addition but a structural component of the business model.

It is in this context that the collaboration with Baracuta takes on a deeper meaning. The British brand does not merely draw on Dynamo's technical and manufacturing expertise: it embraces its values and outlook, connecting one of its icons to an initiative in which product excellence and social impact go hand in hand. Underlying it all is the conviction that quality, beauty, innovation and responsibility can inhabit the same object. In this way, an internationally renowned jacket enters the Dynamo world and helps to raise awareness of and support for its mission, bringing it before a new audience.

The G9DY Dynamo The Good Company × Baracuta has been produced in just 250 pieces, available at Dynamo The Good Company, Baracuta or WP Store outlets, or online at www.dynamoshop.it
