Stone Island tells the story of the hardcore scene with "THE CALM AND THE CHAOS" The new project exploring the relationship between community, fashion and music

Stone Island opens a new chapter in its narrative on fashion and identity with THE CALM AND THE CHAOS, a cultural project that brings the brand to the heart of the international hardcore and metalcore scene. The narrative does not focus solely on the musical genre, but explores the values that have defined two of the most enduring independent communities in contemporary culture for decades.

THE CALM AND THE CHAOS takes shape through the lens of photographer and director Isaac Lamb, who spent over six months immersed in the hardcore community across Europe and North America, documenting its many facets. A vision in tune with Stone Island's philosophy, through which the project extends the brand's research toward communities bound by the same values of experimentation and authenticity. The project traces the dialogue between the American and British hardcore scenes through the creative exchange between Justice Tripp, member of Trapped Under Ice and Angel Du$t, and Graham Sayle of High Vis, relationships that have influenced generations of musicians and continue today through artists such as Isaac Hale of Knocked Loose and Austin Sparkman of Haywire 617.

A project that succeeds in capturing not only a culture, but also the figures who have made it what it is today: from the intensity of live performances to the more intimate moments between tours, rehearsals and everyday life. The result is a body of work that explores the duality from which it takes its name, the calm and the chaos. The styling reflects this balance as well. Rather than constructing looks ad hoc, the project shows how Stone Island has become part of the community's aesthetic over the decades.

The musicians were photographed wearing a combination of current and vintage Stone Island pieces from their personal wardrobes, alongside a selection of archive items - made available by collector Archie Maher - including a 1987 reversible Tela Stella jacket worn by Graham Sayle, a 1984 treated denim chore jacket chosen by Justice Tripp, and a 1991 Ice Camouflage bomber worn by Tommy of Haywire 617.

The project will culminate in September 2027 with the publication of the eponymous tour book, shot entirely on 35mm film. More than documenting live performances, the volume captures the more human side of the hardcore scene, immortalising musicians and audiences alike in moments of intensity and vulnerability, conveying a sense of belonging. THE CALM AND THE CHAOS also continues the dialogue between Stone Island and the hardcore community that began with the Community as a Form of Research FW25-26 campaign, which had featured Isaac Hale of Knocked Loose. In this new phase of the collaboration, the bond is further strengthened through a custom-made Stone Island gilet, a symbol of a relationship built over time.
