Maison Valentino's new Vain bag campaign is an analogue dream. After the evocative debut of Nellcôte, creative director Alessandro Michele continues his tale with a second chapter that seems to have come straight out of a forgotten film from the 1970s, signed by the sensual lens of photographer Sharna Osborne. The protagonists of the campaign live in a suspended bubble of soft gestures and shared silences. Vain conveys character, desire and strength with an elegant design, a symbol of free and conscious femininity. The atmosphere of the campaign is refined, although grain, natural light and washed-out tones add a raw tone to each shot. Vain becomes a symbol of a seduction that does not seek approval, a secret that only women know and keep together.

Meanwhile, Maison Valentino's accessories collection expands. There is the new Vain shoulder bag, with an elongated handle, that mixes calfskin and shiny leather for a timelessly chic effect. There's the oval version with flap closure, decidedly more contemporary but still true to the couture aesthetic of the maison. And then there are the artistic touches: floral embroidery, fabrics such as raffia and velvet, and animalier patterns that look to the brand's latest ready-to-wear collection. Not forgetting Soft Vain, a clutch bag with a karung handle. Each model tells a different nuance, but the language is the same: that of an ancient and nostalgic beauty that manages to tell its story in a whole new light.
