With his Gucci SS18 collection, presented yesterday afternoon, Alessandro Michele offers a phenomenology of dissenting spirit.

In a whirlwind of inspiration and references, the looks on the catwalk are the definitive and heterogeneous mise-en-scenes of that nonconformist and avant-garde spirit Michele has so so deeply infused into the Gucci identity.

On a runway inspired by ancient cultures monuments, from the Aztec to Ancient Rome and Egypt, the models parade wearing creations in which the re-reading of the past is made by projecting it in the future.
The abundant and declared '80s and the club cultures inspiration meet opulent monastic tones full of stones, workwear jackets with beads, traditional suits combined with tribal charms, elegant sequined tailoring suits, brocade coats and military embroidered vest: Gucci SS18 is a clash of different worlds, a globe of pure creativity that is not inspired but recreates, challenging those who look to be themselves.
