L'ultimo spot da lacrimoni di Nike

Martedì mattina, Nike ha scosso il mondo dello sport, presentando la campagna “Just Do It” con l’ex quarterback dei 49ers Colin Kaepernick. E oggi, dopo aver suscitato le reazioni più disparate da parte di insider, sportivi, politici e semplici ‘spettatori’, l’azienda di Beaverton ha calato il poker, presentando il video della campagna, “Dream Crazy”. Come già accaduto in passato con altri commercial dello Swoosh, il videoclip è da brividi, con una profondità emotiva forse mai raggiunta prima. 

“Don't ask if your dreams are crazy. Ask if they're crazy enough.”

La voce di Kaepernick accompagna attraverso una serie di storie, più che di testimonial. Oltre ai più noti LeBron James, Serena Williams, Odell Beckham Jr. ed Eliud Kipchoge - che stanno portando il concetto di ‘atleta’ molto al di là del suo significato originale - il videoclip presenta tanti personaggi magari sconosciuti ai più, ma che sono stati in grado di ‘dream crazy’. Ci sono Megan Blunk, campionessa di basket su sedia a rotelle a Rio 2016; Isaiah Bird, nato senza gambe e diventato campione di wrestling a 10 anni; Charlie Jabaley, che è stato capace di competere nell’Ironman dopo aver perso 55 Kg, essere diventato vegano e aver sconfitto un tumore cerebrale; Alicia Woollcott, linebacker nel football maschile con Grand Blanc e anche reginetta dell’Homecoming.

E ancora, il calciatore canadese Alphonso Davies, il wave surfer hawaiano Kai Lenny, gli skater americani Lacey Baker e Nyjah Huston, la campionessa tedesca di boxe Zeina Nassar e la nazionale americana di calcio.

"If people say your dreams are crazy,

Stay that way,

Because what non-believers fail to understand is that calling a dream crazy is not an insult,

It's a compliment.

Don't try to be the fastest runner in your school

Or the fastest in the world,

Be the fastest ever.

Picture OBJ wearing yours.

Don't settle for homecoming queen or linebacker,

Do both.

Lose 120 pounds and become an Ironman after beating a brain tumor.

If you're born a refugee, don't let that stop you from playing soccer

For the national team,

At age 16.

Don't become the best basketball player on the planet,

Be bigger than basketball.

Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything.

When they talk about the greatest team in the history of the sport, make sure it's your team.

If you have only one hand, don't just watch football,

At the highest level.

And if you're a girl from Compton, don't just become a tennis player

Become the greatest athlete ever.
