Olympique Lyonnais releases the home jersey for the 2024/25 season In a different version for the male and female teams

Still fighting to secure a place in the upcoming Conference League, Olympique Lyon is the second adidas club to unveil the new home jersey for the 2024/2025 season. Distinguished by two central gradient stripes representing the two rivers flowing through the city: the Rhône and the Loire. The stripes, of course, echo the club's social colors - the only ones present on the jersey as the golden Three Stripes will no longer be featured. But the most significant news is that this year, the French club has also chosen to produce two different versions of the jersey. The men's team will play with the commercial sponsor Fly Emirates, while the women's team will sport the Mastercard logo. The Lyon example was and continues to be significant in how the choice of a sponsor can alter the aesthetic value of a jersey. Additionally, with the choice of dual sponsorship, the French team revitalizes its fan community, which has already begun to express its preferences in the comments of the presentation post posted on Instagram by the official OL account.

Olympique Lyon is a team that in recent history has displayed some of the most bizarre commercial sponsors on their jerseys: think of the 2001/2002 season. In that year, the French even played with 4 different commercial sponsors, namely Renault, Continental, Atari, and Lion, before showcasing even more incredible ones in the following years, such as Ticket, Novotel, BetClic, but above all those of Playstation 3 and God of War in the 2009/2010 season. In short, it is a club particularly obsessed with the logos appearing on the jerseys, and the same goes for the crest. Last season, Lyon opted for a retro version (from 1989/1990 to 1995/1996) but exclusively on the away version, which gives us hope that the initiative could be replicated on the home or third shirt. Lyon gives fans (and not only) the opportunity to choose which shirt to buy, focusing on two very different logos, in silhouette and style - considering that the Mastercard one is composed only of two spheres, one orange and one red.
