York United presents the Alternate and Primary kits At the dawn of the Canadian Premier League

The Canadian Premier League will kick off on April 13 with the opening match between Atletico Ottawa and York United. It's a pivotal season for the Canadian top football league, which starting from 2025 will change its classic format of only 8 competing clubs by expanding the participating clubs. Interest in soccer in Canada is steadily increasing: evidenced by the updated total wage bill paid to league players, which rises from $87,500 in the previous season to $1,112,500. What remains unchanged, however, is the attention Macron puts into designing the kits, having a contract with CPL similar to adidas with MLS for the exclusive production of all club kits. Among the latest clubs to unveil their new kits, in both Alternate and Primary versions, is York United, the Toronto-based club recently acquired by the Mexican group Game Plan Sports Group, boasting significant experience in Liga MX.

On the Alternate version, alongside the Macron technical sponsor, appears the Carlsberg branding. The kit is based on the club's traditional blue, green, and gold color palette, but this time it features a checkered pattern, reminiscent of the aesthetic of Liverpool's 2008/2009 away jersey, when the Reds also had the famous Danish beer brand as a commercial sponsor. Details dominate the Alternate kit: besides the gold trim on the sleeves, upon closer inspection of the checkers, one can notice 9 stripes within them, a nod to the club's nickname, "The Nine Stripes". With the Primary kit, however, the club doesn't stray from the tradition of stripes on the home jersey. Through this dual launch, York United demonstrates a particular attachment to their social colors, prominently displayed on both versions, albeit in diametrically opposite ways.
