The world's first football tournament took place at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, as five years later rules were introduced prohibiting the participation of professionals, and the strongest national teams from all continents competed against each other. The competition was dominated by Uruguay, who won all their matches 3-0, including the final against Switzerland. This success was repeated at the next edition in Amsterdam and is still one of the most important moments in the South American country's football history a hundred years later. At the pre-Olympic CONMEBOL tournament, which takes place in Venezuela from 20 January to 11 February, the Uruguayan U23 team, led by Marcelo Bielsa, will unveil a new shirt design inspired by the one worn a hundred years ago.

A perfectly executed nostalgia operation with two kits for the moving players and two for the goalkeepers that are as simple as they are impressive. The two jerseys follow the iconic Uruguayan colours, the first in light blue with a four-button polo collar and white sleeve edges and the second in white with light blue detailing on the collar and sleeves. The two jerseys for the goalkeepers, on the other hand, are orange and turquoise. While the design of the jerseys remains faithful to the original, the font chosen for the numbers is the same as that used on the current jerseys by PUMA, the Uruguayan team's sponsor since 2007. There is also a gold detail with the date and the claim La Primera Estrella, which commemorates the first of the Uruguayan national team's four international victories. In fact, the two Olympic tournaments were followed by two World Cups, the first in 1930 and the one won in Brazil in 1950, which triggered the Maracanazo.
