The new Ajax's Third kit is an Uncut Gems Unveiled with a video inspired by the Safdie brothers' movie

In the 2019 film "Uncut Gems" produced by A24 and directed by the Safdie brothers, a great Adam Sandler plays the role of a ludopathic and shady jewelry dealer in the Diamond District of Manhattan. The film restores the image of a fascinating world codified through elements such as small shops, jewel cases and mysterious characters. Ajax was inspired by that same imagery for the presentation of the new Third kit, with a beautiful video that looks like the sequel to the Safdie film.

The diamonds in Ajax's new kit are not mysterious objects like the opal at the center of the film, but they symbolize the club's unique philosophy on talent scouting and development, which from rough diamonds become brilliant and precious stones in the international football scene. In fact, in a symbolic frame of the video we see some diamonds inside a display case, with the names of some stars of the Amsterdam team, such as Johan Cruijff, Marco van Basten, Dennis Bergkamp and other legends of Dutch football. The shirt, made by adidas, then takes up the concept of diamonds in its design, with a pattern that recalls the different faces of precious stones, as well as the silver color used for logos and sponsors. The video perhaps represents one of the best shirt presentations of this season, a short film that keeps you in suspense like a thriller, in which Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, one of the rough diamonds of the Ajax academy who later became a club legend.

The new kit is available on the official Ajax' website.
