Following pictures of the new Nike LeBron 20 in Liverpool's club colours, The Chosen One turned up in the tunnel at the Crypto.come Arena last night wearing the Reds jersey that Nike made especially for the yellow and purple star. The jersey was black with thin stripes and red detailing, James' logo with the crown emblazoned on the chest, while 'engineered to the exact specifications of Liverpool and LeBron James' was emblazoned on the bottom right. On his feet, the King wore a pair of Air Max 1s, which will be part of the upcoming Liverpool x LeBron James collection.

The relationship between the Reds and LeBron James is not just a sporting one. In fact, thanks to his investment in the Fenway Sports group, the Lakers star player controls part of Liverpool, a club he is also linked to through joint technical sponsor Nike, which has produced jerseys for Klopp's team for two seasons. LeBron signed a lifetime contract with the Beaverton-based company in 2015 and is one of the most recognisable faces of the Swoosh. It is therefore not surprising that Liverpool will also be leaving New Balance in 2020 to join Nike. The close connection between football and the NBA thus adds a new chapter between the two most followed and most popular sports in the world.
