Ajax's new third shirt in collaboration with Daily Paper With a design that pays homage to the 'pleintjes', the infamous football pitches of the Dutch capital

After surprising everyone last year with a total black jersey dedicated to Bob Marley, Ajax have teamed up with Daily Paper for their third kit this year. Like last season, once again the Dutch team and adidas have created a unique shirt that pays homage to Amsterdam's infamous football fields, the 'pleintjes' in Dutch, which have long been the breeding ground of legends, icons and current rising stars. In addition to the football pitches, the red and black vertical bar and the white Ajax coat-of-arms accompanied by the Dutch capital's brand emblem, reflecting the colours of the city's iconic flag, add to the appeal of the third jersey.

After the fans' protests over the font used in the first jersey, accused of being so ugly that it was compared to that of Mc Donald's, Ajax and adidas have come full circle by presenting the third jersey designed by Daily Paper, further fuelling the close relationship created between football and fashion. Not only the classic white uniform with the big red vertical band, introduced back in 1911 when the Lancers arrived in the Eredivisie and had to change their jersey (originally black and red) due to the presence of Sparta Rotterdam. The Amsterdam team has dressed in all colours and patterns, giving us sensational jerseys to which this one will undoubtedly now belong.

The new jersey is already available here.
