Monza will play in Serie A for the first time

Another historic milestone achieved by Berlusconi and Galliani

Monza will play in Serie A for the first time Another historic milestone achieved by Berlusconi and Galliani

Until last night, Monza was on the list of the fifty (or so) provinces never to have led the city's team into Italy's top flight. It took 210 minutes in total, between the first leg and the second leg against a great Pisa side, but in the end Gytkjaer, coming in from the bench, as in the first leg, settled the matter by taking the game into extra time, removing his team's name from the narrow list and definitively putting an end to the Pisa dream. A goal masterfully achieved by the award-winning Berlusconi-Galliani duo who, after four years of management, succeeded in the feat of winning the Lega B play-offs and bringing the Biancorossi team into Serie A for the first time in its history. And to say that it all seemed to vanish, or almost. Pisa's goal at the end of the first leg and the one scored in the first minute of the return match seemed to have clipped the wings of Stroppa's team, which despite the pressure managed the match and reacted at its best in the climax.

The dreams of glory do not stop here. Reached at the microphones immediately after the match, president Berlusconi anticipated the goals for next season. The entire red and white management is seriously intent on retracing the successes and victories of Milan achieved by Berlusconi and Galliani, aiming from the outset for qualification for the Champions League and more importantly, victory in the championship. Monza like Leicester, after moving from Serie C to Serie A in just four years, the goal is to reach the top of Italian football.

Lotto, a sponsor that has written part of the aesthetic history of Italian football, will also return to Serie A with Monza. The last presence in the Italian top flight for the Italian brand dates back to the 2018-19 season when it designed the jerseys for Genoa. Lotto accompanied the Rossoblu for seven consecutive seasons before making way for another Italian brand, Kappa. Even for the brand whose lozenge is the symbol will be a big challenge, in the late 1990s and later in the early 2000s, Lotto accustomed us to great creations with the shirts of Parma, Palermo, Fiorentina and Juventus only to end up almost in oblivion. With Monza, on the other hand, he will have the opportunity to bring all his heritage and experience back to the heart of Brianza, rewriting another important page of his sporting history.
