After signing Fernan Torres a few weeks ago, Barcelona are looking for new sponsors to balance the books and put behind them all the problems they had in 2021. According to reports from various newspapers, the Blaugrana club is close to signing a major sponsorship deal with Spotify. The music streaming platform is ready to take over from Rakuten, whose contract will expire this summer and who does not seem willing to sit at the table to talk about a possible renewal due to the current situation of the club. 

In fact, Barcelona are looking for a new sponsor who is able to ensure more income to the club, to try once and for all to overcome the economic problems that have literally overwhelmed the club in the last year and a half. From the sensational non-renewal with Messi to the recent problems with the Salary Cup, the club is not in good shape and Daniel Ek's company could be the perfect solution. Spotify and its CEO, after having closed a deal with Santos in 2019, have been trying for months to get into European football, a few months ago he tried to test the ground to buy Arsenal, but the American holding company did not want to know sending back all the advances to the sender. 

What Daniel Ek, a huge football fan, and his entire team find very interesting about the club is the large number of fans of the club around the world. A quick look at the club's social accounts shows that Barcelona reached the 400 million mark last June. Interesting numbers that added to those of the music giant make the deal interesting and feasible for both parties.

However, the operation is not yet definitively closed, because both the vice-president of marketing Juli Guiu and the new CEO Ferran Reverter are working non-stop to find a new shirt sponsor and the two have already informed the board of directors of this possibility. For Barcelona, Spotify could represent a lifeline to get out of financial trouble even if the figures to become the jersey sponsor are not yet known.
