The '90s will remain forever in the heart and eyes of every football jersey fan, and Moschino knows it well. For its Pre-Fall 2021 collection, Moschino has revived a very special pattern used by Arsenal. The Italian company has repurposed the 1994-95 goalkeeper's jersey pattern into a couture collection, creating shirts, sweatshirts, bags and trousers all with the same pattern. Vintage has paradoxically become a contemporary element and brands are riding the nostalgic wave that only football can generate. Although sportingly it was not a season to remember given the lacklustre performance in the league and the heavy defeat in the final of what was then called the Cup Winners' Cup, from an aesthetic point of view it was quite the opposite, in those years some of the Gunners' iconic shirts were born.

A collection that further demonstrates that as never before in recent years the worlds of football and fashion have slowly drawn closer together like two continents about to crash into each other. In the space of just a few years, football has gone from the neighbourhood pitches to the catwalks of Fashion Week, transforming a simple jersey into an iconic piece of global streetwear. The watershed was the long-lasting collaboration between Jordan Brand and Paris Saint-Germain, which has become a constant in recent years, but mainly the one between Palace and Juventus, in fact one of the best collaborations of recent years.

Diamonds, geometric lines, bright colours and crazy patterns, the goalkeeper jerseys of the 90s undoubtedly shaped the aesthetics of the most difficult role of all. Although today's sports brands no longer focus on the goalkeeper's jersey by offering the same template every year for all clubs, there was a time when these kits were able to grab all the attention. But with time everything has changed, the role of the goalkeeper has changed as well as the aesthetics and design of their jerseys. The oversized uniforms, the super-coloured ones that we used to dream about, have given way to super-technological, breathable, slim-fit models, and above all monochrome and often fluorescent colours. Moschino, as other fashion brands have done, has decided to reopen the archives, bringing to light a unique design that is still very up-to-date despite having been conceived in the early 90s.
