At Lucca Comics and Games 2018, during the press conference of the event dedicated to Panini Comics' Planet Manga series, was announced a new edition of the popular manga set in the world of high school basketball, Slam Dunk.

The comic book publisher house has decided to reprint the new Deluxe version in conjunction with the start of the FIBA ​​World Cup, which will be played from August 31st to September 15th.

The story is that of Hanamichi Sakuragi, a thug with a particular hatred for basketball because of a girl who rejected him dating a member of the basketball team. The meeting with Haruko Akagi, who invites Hanamichi to join the high school team, gives birth to the love for this sport, also fueled by some rivalries like that with Rukawa.

Slam Dunk Restyled Edition and proposes the complete version of the series published in Japan between 1991 and 1996, translated for Italy by Panini Comics in the late nineties, in 62 issues from October of 1997 to June 2000, with huge success.

The mind behind Slam Dunk is Takehiko Onoue, who thanks to this manga, focused on the stories of Hanamichi Sakuragi and his high school basketball team, achieves international success. Success, in addition to the great fortune of the sport manga trend, was also to perfectly mix action and humor. The work quickly became a point of reference and a model for the new generations of mangaka and had an enormous influence on all Japanese culture.
