Facebook will broadcast Premier League games in the Southeast Asia The famous platform created by Zuckerberg exceeds beIN Sports and Fox Sports Asia offers

In the last months, Facebook had already become overwhelmingly in the TV rights' acquisition market to offer sport streaming service to its 'customers' (MLB, American college basketball and some MLS, Liga and Champions League matches), now it's close to the announcement for another big hit: broadcast the Premier League in the countries of Southeast Asia. According to The Times, Facebook has, in fact, found an agreement on the basis of about £ 200 million to immediately acquire the TV rights of the richest league in the world, which will be available live for a three-year period (2019-2022) in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. Facebook has won the competition against two media giants like beIN Sports and Fox Sports Asia.

This is a real big deal if we consider the popularity of the English championship in the these countries, just think of the recent decision to hold the draw but especially to play the first round of the next English League Cup (the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons related to the famous Thai drink) in Vietnam next August. The operation carried out by Facebook confirms recent attempts to enter into the 'battle' for the television rights by 'alternative channels', as happened a few months ago with the inclusion of an unprecedented platform like Amazon, able to took a substantial slice of market that will give him the opportunity to broadcast Premier League matches, alongside Sky Sports and BT Sport.
