Instagram may finally add DMs to desktop The Instagram revolution is on the move

In recent weeks, Instagram has changed radically: after announcing the removal of the Following section, the Dark Mode function and extending the test on invisible likes, it seems that soon DMs will also be available on the web desktop version.
Instagram's DMs were one of the last only-mobile features of the app, but developer Jane Manchun Wong specializing in reverse engineering has found the lines of code in the non-final version related to desktop implementation and posted the screenshots on her Twitter profile. Wong is a fairly reliable source and has now specialized in spoiling app updates as it has also anticipated the test on the absence of likes, boomerangs and other features.

Wong notes that conversations are listed on a sidebar in an interface akin to Facebook Messenger’s. Mark Zuckerberg has already announced he plans to allow you to communicate between Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp down the road – to the chagrin of German regulators – so it’s not surprising the apps would share a similar UI. For heavy Instagram users, particularly influences and those running business accounts, the feature could be a godsend. Responding to a few messages on your phone is okay, but dozens or hundreds of them is not quite so fun. You need a proper keyboard for that.
