Commentary and C.B. Evans transform art into fragrance Launching a collaboration program between contemporary artists and master perfumers

Commentary launches its artist commission program with Belgian-American artist C.B. Evans. The choice of Evans for the opening project stems from the immersive nature of their practice and their ability to build worlds through different languages and media. Throughout their career, he has explored the relationship between memory, emotions, and technology through video, installations, and performance.

Conceived as an olfactory work, the collaboration uses fragrance as a conceptual artistic medium. The starting point is therefore not perfume understood as a product, but the artist's research, which finds in olfactory composition a further means through which to take shape. With this first project, Commentary initiates an ongoing series of collaborations with contemporary artists, invited to develop their own works alongside master perfumers. The sense of smell thus becomes a tool for expanding each artist's research and translating it into a different sensory dimension.

The work will be presented at Dover Street Parfums Market in Paris in October 2026, on the occasion of Art Basel Paris.
