Did Jul use AI in his latest song? It seems he's no longer afraid of being replaced by AI, unlike what he said back in January
In addition to receiving mixed reviews not only for its romantic style (in the vein of Kendji Girac as some users say) and slightly disjointed lyrics like “with your eyes as dark as my Twingo”, the latest song by Jul Toi et Moi is at the heart of a new controversy. Several reasons indeed suggest that the Marseille singer may have used artificial intelligence to create it, as explained on social media by beatmaker LnKhey. He reportedly noticed several “audio anomalies,” as explained by le Parisien, typical of a track created by AI platforms like Suno: low-quality audio, lack of real silence between cuts, questionable stereo management, and robotic-sounding backing vocals.

In his video that went viral, he explains, “The guitar goes from mono to stereo for no reason in a few seconds, the backing vocals, it’s a computer. Sometimes they don’t even pronounce the syllables, the notes are all flat.” He even believes that Jul may have used multiple AIs combined, for both the music and vocals. If this information is true, Jul wouldn’t be the only one. According to the Deezer platform, nearly 20,000 new tracks created by AI tools like Suno are uploaded every day. And not only on Deezer—YouTube and Spotify are also affected by this prolific fake production, which could well overshadow real artists. Listeners may be disappointed if it turns out that Jul is indeed taking part in this AI expansion in the music world. Especially when remembering he once sang “They want to replace me with AI” in his song Phénoménal released last April.
