SHOWStudio launches its first Fashion Film Award the power of movement

Since its establishment in 2000, SHOWStudio has immediately demonstrated a certain propensity to avant-gardism. Founded by visionary photographer Nick Knight, the website has redefined the way of communicating the fashion industry online, providing a privileged look on the backstages of runway shows and fashion shoots through the interactive language of film.

Among the personalities who have opened the doors of their creative studios to the cameras of the website there are influential names such as John GallianoRick OwensRei Kawakubo, the Rodarte sisters and Alexander McQueen, but also emerging talents like Giles Deacon e Gareth Pugh.

An interactive and highly specialized platform, which has not missed the opportunity to give birth to a Fashion Film Award. Nick Knight and his team are working on the debut of a competition which will offer the winner a budget of £10,000 for his next fashion film, followed by the support of Knight himself and culminating with a trip to Austrialia to present the work to the public.

"I've wanted to do a fashion film award for a long time” said the author of the project, "Fashion and movement is very important, when a designer creates a piece of clothing it's always to be seen in movement and I think fashion film is the best way of doing that. I wanted to encourage new young fashion film-makers, to really help them to embrace this new medium and to create this new medium, it really has to be created".

Among the judges already confirmed there are Nicola FormichettiGareth Pugh and Daphne Guinness. Aspiring fashion film-makers: send an email to [email protected] or showstudio.com/blog for more information.
