Delphine Arnault joins JW Anderson’s board of directors The culmination of a professional bond turned friendship
A major milestone has been reached in the partnership between luxury giant LVMH and Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson. On June 30, Delphine Arnault, CEO of Dior, officially joined the board of directors of the designer's namesake label, JW Anderson. She succeeds Sidney Toledano, who has moved on to join the board of Moncler - a house currently experiencing strong growth. She will serve alongside Cécile Cabanis, CFO of LVMH, as part of a strategic game of musical chairs across key positions within the group.
While the company remains majority-controlled (54%) by Jonathan Anderson and his brother Thomas, LVMH has held a 46% stake since 2013 and remains its primary financial backer, ensuring stability through annual loans.
This executive reshuffle comes with a strategic pivot for the JW Anderson brand. To establish a clear boundary between Dior's ultra-luxury positioning and the designer's other ventures -notably his ongoing collaboration with Japanese fast-fashion giant Uniqlo since 2017 -JW Anderson has chosen to step away from runway shows to focus on design and lifestyle.
The arrival of Bernard Arnault’s daughter on the board seals over a decade of mutual trust. Back in 2013, she was the one who prompted LVMH to invest in the young designer's label while appointing him artistic director of Loewe, leading to the resounding success we know today. Beyond business, the two fashion figures share a genuine bond, recently highlighted by their joint appearance among the handpicked guests at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding in New York.
