Balenciaga x Supreme was really going to happen

Balenciaga x Supreme was really going to happen But the new artistic route of Balenciaga has completely discarded the collab

During November it was rumored that century-old haute couture Balenciaga world-renowned streetwear brand Supreme was working together for an SS23 collection. The news had raised great expectations among fans, especially after only a few months earlier Demna Gvasalia had produced a Box Logo t-shirt for Balenciaga's summer collection that drew directly from Supreme's famous imagery, though without any actual affiliation with the American brand. Today there has been renewed talk of the collaboration, but according to reports in some US media, it seems that the partnership will never see the light of day.

The cancellation of the collab is hardly surprising; judging by Balenciaga's last runway show, it is clear that Demna Gvasalia's artistic direction has undergone an abrupt change of direction. November's ad scandal must have upset the French fashion house's creative and financial order, motivating the designer to tone down the extravagant designs of his newest collections, preferring classic silhouettes that don't ignite uncomfortable debates, either on social media or in the industry. For Supreme, it would have been a historic addition to the great list of collaborations with high fashion houses, namely Burberry and Louis Vuitton, and could, perhaps, have relaunched the brand by restoring the aura of hype that nowadays seems to be long gone.
