The Études X Jean-Michel Basquiat capsule marks the second chapter of the brand's N°20 collection on its 10th anniversary. After the new realism of Yves Klein, Études pays tribute to the radiant child of neo-expressionism, weaving a dialogue between the French touch and the American urban scene of the 1980s. Études continues to celebrate the ardent and experimental spirit of its quintessential heroes: if Klein's vibrant blue reflected the essence of the spring/summer season, this new autumn/winter 2022 capsule recounts the fauve hues and sense of urgency through twenty-six pieces embellished with Basquiat's works.

Emulating the haptic quality of Basquiat's creations through different techniques, the capsule portrays seventeen of the artist's artworks. Untitled 62 and Cheese Popcorn are presented as all-over prints on cotton and denim, Basquiat's self-portrait is rendered in a vibrant pictorial silkscreen print, while poetic writings and portraits of iconic boxers are finely embroidered on technical nylon and wool, evoking designs made directly onto the garment, and the iconic Pez Dispenser, a chenille patch on a striped cardigan, references the artist's aesthetic sense. Each garment echoes Basquiat's silhouette with elegant tailored outerwear, relaxed sportswear and trendy accessories. The Études X Jean-Michel Basquiat collection is a lively tribute to the artist's iconoclastic approach, from art to fashion, while the garments, once worn, take Basquiat's creations back to where they started: the street.
