The campaign for the new collection Marni x Uniqlo

The campaign for the new collection Marni x Uniqlo You won't wear anything else all summer long

There are many brands and designers who have collaborated with Uniqlo in recent years, the most notable being certainly JW Anderson and designer Jil Sander with her J+ collection. But the new collaborative collection announced with Marni seems perhaps the most successful and desirable in recent years: a partially genderless capsule (there is no shortage of more feminine looks inside, but everything else is meant to be worn freely and without distinction) that transports Francesco Risso's prints and eye for idiosyncratic color palettes into the world of Uniqlo's relaxed cotton basics. The release of the collection is set for May 19, but already the two brands have unveiled a lookbook that includes a full list of items and their prices.

Parkas, jackets, shirts, pants - honestly, the best part of the collaboration is that many of the pieces can be purchased as a set giving the buyer the chance to create vaguely oversized uniforms like the ones seen in the lookbook. The main problem with these low-high collaborations is usually that the true feeling associated with the original fashion brand gets diluted, but with this very collabo the spirit of Marni has transliterated seamlessly into Uniqlo's vocabulary. It's clear that the two brands share a common approach to the relaxed silhouette and elevation of simple garments that makes the dialogue between Marni and Uniqlo seem so fluid.

The new Marni x Uniqlo collection will be available starting May 19 online and in Uniqlo stores.
